<p>In Africa, the image of a group of (usually men) sitting under a tree talking is fairly common.  In fact, many villages had a &#8216;the tree&#8217; where people met to have informal meetings or just impromptu ones.  If you were new in the village, you made stopping by the tree one of your priorities (unless there was an invitation only meeting happening). When formal [read Western] education was introduced, it also happened under a tree. At least until the classrooms were put up.<span id="more-110"></span></p>
<p>We have new trees in Africa now. They are of a genus like none our parents ever did see. They are called Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, MySpace, FriendFeed&#8230;.need I go on? We meet under these giant trees to connect with each other, build relationships, learn from each other, rally behind causes and so much more. Much more than the old tree could help us do.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m under the Twitter tree as @muchiri, the Facebook tree as facebook.com/muchiri and under the LinkedIn tree as linkedin.com/in/muchiri</p>
<p>Come to the tree. Let&#8217;s talk. Let&#8217;s connect. Let&#8217;s learn.</p>

<div>
<div><em>(Isa 9:6-7)  For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace.</em></div>
<div><em>    Of the increase of His government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from the [latter] time forth, even forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. (The Amplified)</em></div>
<div></div>
</div>
<div>This year has been a roller coaster for many of us.  The effect of the Kenyan elections in December 2007 carried over for months after 2008 had began.  The financial markets plummeted and so did the dollar.  The Kenya shilling lost ground against a loosing dollar! Fuel prices hit KSh.100 per litre and then dropped to KSh75 (by today..in some gas stations).  And today, no gasoline.  Had to park the car and walk around looking for a gas station with gas!  And then there was drama in our church&#8230;and others across the country.  I&#8217;ll miss 2008&#8230;but again, maybe not.</div>
<div>
<div></div>
<div>In spite of it all, God was in control.  I don&#8217;t need evidence to believe that.  It&#8217;s one of those facts that are inescapable.  The one thing I need to see 2009 more than ever is more of God&#8217;s control in my life.  The biggest tragedy will be to find, at the end of 2009, that God has less control in my life than He had at the beginning.  For you see, Heaven is forced to return to an election everyday many times a day in each one of us.  The winner of the election determines the directions we take in the decisions we make.  The more Satan wins in these &#8216;elections&#8217; the more his kingdom, his government increases because he acquires a majority in the house (for we are the temple&#8230;).  The more God wins and our decisions are directed by Him and by His Word, the more His Government increases in our lives.  I need to see to it that the election is fixed in God&#8217;s favor.  Everytime.  It may be hard but it is possible.  He fixed the fight between the devil and I (I checked at the back of The Book, WE WIN), it&#8217;s the least I can do.  God rules!</div>
<div></div>
<div>My commitment to God remains the same,</div>
<div><span><em>Philipians 3:10  &#8221;For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [[a]which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death&#8230;&#8221; (The Amplified)</em></span><em><br />
</em></div>
<div></div>
<div>I will pursue growth in my spirit man and cede more territory than ever to the Kingdom of Heaven in 2009.  I want to be more like Him.</div>
<div></div>
<div>What about you?</div>
<div></div>
<div>Have a merry Christmas and a 2009 ruled by the Government of Jehovah.</div>
</div>

<p>It never occurred to me that Uhuru park is a beautiful place.  It has always been filed away in mind under &#8216;Crusade venue&#8217; and &#8216;Political rally venue&#8217; and &#8216;TEAR GAS &#8211; DO NOT APPROACH&#8217;.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a glimpse of what I have begun to see.</p>
